More watts from the same area
When space is short, power per square metre becomes the deciding criterion. The SUNBEAMSystem Tough Black Optimized IQ offers 121 W in a 109 x 54 cm format, a little under 0.6 m². Its stated cell efficiency of 24.4% explains that density. The panel is black, flexible and weighs only 2.8 kg.
Where it fits
On a small sailing boat, a fitted-out canoe or a light caravan, the roof rarely offers a large flat area. This panel slips in where a rigid frame would not. A travelling tradesperson can use it to keep the cordless tools in the vehicle charged; a private user can run the lighting of a garden hut. In both cases, a charge controller remains essential between panel and battery.
Construction details
The module combines monocrystalline Sunpower cells with a 2 m output cable, which helps when the controller sits some distance from the panel, for example inside a cabin, a locker or a technical cupboard. Extra length also gives you room to form a drip loop before the cable enters the enclosure. It does, however, have no mounting eyelets: plan a way of holding it that suits your surface and follows the manufacturer’s guidance.
Fitting it into the system
First work out the cable route between panel and controller, avoiding edges, hinges and places where it would be crushed. Check that the module’s open-circuit voltage stays below the input limit of your controller, including in cold weather when it tends to rise. Once connected, watch the charging for a few days to confirm the sizing matches how you use it. For a link to a household network, call a qualified installer.

Safety instructions
The current and voltage figures should guide the choice of fuses, cables and controller; do not exceed them. Never let the cable ends touch each other while the panel is exposed to light. Do not install it right next to strong heat sources.
Maintenance
A soft, slightly damp cloth removes dust and deposits. If you take the panel down for the cold season, roll it or lay it flat as the instructions say, protected from knocks. When you put it back into service, inspect the cable and the connections for any visible damage first, and clean the surface gently before the first charge.
