Bonding and sealing outdoors

Bonding a mounting accessory depends as much on preparation as on the adhesive. This category brings together Sikaflex 554, 252i and 291i elastic adhesives in white or black, Sika Primer 206 G+P, Sika Aktivator 205 in 250 ml bottles and an adhesive sealant. The choice between Sikaflex 554, 252i or 291i is made on each product’s technical sheet, which states the substrates and uses concerned; if in doubt, ask for advice before buying.

Identify the substrate (metal, plastic, painted surface) and the colour you want, then read the product sheet to see whether a primer or activator is recommended. Keep the surface clean and respect the curing times given by the manufacturer. For a roof or boat installation, choose an adhesive presented for outdoor use.
