A solar battery made to stay outdoors
Many home storage units need a utility room, a garage or a cellar. This one, Anker’s Solarbank 3 E2700 Pro in its 10.8 kWh version, stands out for its environmental data: IP65 protection, operation from −20 °C to +55 °C and up to 4000m altitude. It therefore appeals to those whose outside wall is the only available spot, or whose region has harsh winters and hot summers.
Applications
Houses, chalets and outbuildings
A mountain holiday home or a garden shed fitted with panels can store its production here. Wi-Fi lets you check the unit without travelling to it.
Professional sites
A farm, a small shed or a business premises without a free utility room can consider outdoor placement, after an installer has given an opinion on the exact location.
Construction
The 460 x 254 x 279 mm housing weighs 29.2 kg for the main unit. The battery chemistry is LiFePO4. The main unit alone holds 2688Wh; the bundle presented here reaches 10.8 kWh.
Recharging: a duration for each configuration
The manufacturer gives durations according to the number of expansion batteries:
- 1200W via AC on the Solarbank 3: about 2.3 h.
- 1800W via PV without expansion battery: about 90 min.
- 3600W with 2x expansion battery via AC and PV (BP2700): about 2.24 h.
- 3600W with 3x expansion battery via AC and PV (BP2700): about 3 h.
These figures assume specific conditions; refer to the manual for your own case.
Placing the unit outdoors
Even with an IP65 rating, install it on a flat, solid support out of children’s reach, and route the cables so water cannot run toward the connectors. It plugs into a 230V wall socket with the Anker smart meter; for any work on the panel board or the solar wiring, rely on a qualified professional.

Choosing the orientation and shelter
A wall sheltered from the prevailing wind and driving rain spares the seals and connectors, even with an IP65 rating. Avoid direct contact with waterlogged ground and let air circulate around the housing, especially in summer under strong sun. A simple canopy above the unit can also help keep the surface cooler.
Safety in harsh conditions
Keep the battery away from flames and any strong heat source, even though the operating range is wide. Clear snow or debris from around it regularly, check the cable entry seals and never handle it while live.
Care and winter storage
A check after each spell of bad weather is usually enough: dry cloth, cable inspection, no trace of moisture. For a prolonged shutdown, apply the instructions in the manual.
