Why a higher-voltage version
The HV variant of the SOLA Flex Mono range is recognisable by its electrical values: 43.20 V open circuit and 36 V at maximum power, for 150 W. A higher voltage at the same power means a lower current in the cables, which can ease the choice of cross-sections on long runs. The trade-off is that the charge controller must accept this input range, which is worth checking before you buy any additional equipment, since a controller with a lower input ceiling could be damaged.
Fields of application
Light living and leisure
The 1210 x 660 mm module fits on the roof of a compact motorhome, the deck of a sailing boat or the cover of a bike shelter. Its flexibility allows a slight curve, and its weight of 2.79 kg stays reasonable for surfaces with limited load capacity.
Light professional installations
For a measuring station, a signalling board or a remote container, the module can be part of a larger set. Further modules may be combined, provided the controller’s voltage and current limits are respected.
What the construction reveals
The 3.1 mm thickness confirms a very thin design. The cells are Sunpower monocrystalline, with a stated efficiency above 22%. The IP67 mention describes protection against the weather, and the 2 m cable ends in a +/- output.
Commissioning steps
- Compare the module’s open-circuit voltage with the controller’s maximum input voltage, keeping a safety margin.
- Clean the surface and fix the module with a method suited to soft plastic.
- Route the cable so that it is protected from edges and hot areas.
- Connect the controller to the battery first, then the panel, following the device’s manual.

Safety
With more than 43 V open circuit, caution is called for: do not touch bare contacts, and disconnect the load before any handling. Use only connectors and cables sized for these values, and do not put two modules in series without checking the total voltage the controller accepts. Never drill the module.
Care and storage
Washing with clean water and a gentle wipe is enough most of the time. Check the fixing and the cable insulation regularly. If you store it, keep the module flat or loosely rolled, dry, and away from intense heat sources. Before the new season, also glance at the plugs so that dirt or moisture does not degrade the connection, and replace any worn part rather than relying on it.
