The L format of the Daylight range
The Wattstunde SOLA Frame Daylight L reaches 175 W in a frame of 1425 x 525 x 35 mm. It is aimed at people who find a 125 W model too tight but lack the surface of a large household panel. Its elongated shape fits on a roof rack, on the cabin top of a boat or on the slope of a small shelter.
Typical uses
A private owner might use it to run the fridge and lighting of a pleasure boat through a battery and a controller. A professional could recharge the batteries of a navigation marker, a stand-alone surveillance camera or a small mobile workshop. Always compare the panel’s output with the daily consumption of your appliances.
Materials and construction
The panel uses Sunpower back-contact cells with 24% efficiency. Weather protection is mentioned in the data sheet. The 35 mm deep frame and the weight of 9.04 kg give it good mechanical stability. A 90 cm cable fitted with MC4 connectors leaves the module directly.
Mounting and connecting the panel
Start by measuring the spot: you need 1425 mm by 525 mm, plus some clearance for ventilation. Fix the frame with sturdy, corrosion-resistant brackets suited to your material. As the 90 cm cable is short, place the controller nearby or plan for an MC4 extension of sufficient cross-section. Check that the controller can handle the open-circuit voltage of 32 V and the short-circuit current of 6.77 A. For a connection to the household network, contact a qualified installer.
- Switch off the load before handling the connections.
- Clip the cable at regular intervals so that it does not flap.
- Check the tightness of the connectors after the first week of use.
Its advantages
This model brings together 24% efficiency, an integrated cable and a format that stays reasonable. Its 175 W output gives more room for charging than a 125 W model, provided there is good sunshine.

Safety
Avoid putting objects on the glass and do not bend the cable at a sharp angle. On a boat, keep the connections away from places where water collects. Never work on the wiring during a storm, and use protective devices rated for the current your installation can deliver.
Care and storage
A wash with fresh water is generally enough, especially after exposure to sea spray or dust. Inspect the brackets and the cable at the start of each season. Keep the module in a dry place, flat or on its edge, protected from knocks.
