Why choose the long version?
On a roof or a ground mount, panels are not always laid side by side: an obstacle, a chimney, a mounting angle or simply the width of a frame can set them apart. The long version of this MC4 T-adapter set, at 30 cm, lets you join two spaced panels without adding an intermediate extension, and so without multiplying contact points.
How a T adapter works
An input branch splits into two outputs, or the other way round, so several panels can be connected in parallel on one line. The set carries the designation 3; the sheet does not detail the exact number of pieces, so check it when you open the package and count the branches your layout needs.
Who uses it?
In a personal installation
Owners of small roofs, pergolas or sheds fitted with several panels: the 30 cm length gives welcome room to lay cables neatly along the frames.
In a professional context
Installers and maintenance technicians find a way to reorganise a small solar array quickly when a panel has to be moved or replaced.
What the specifications say
The manufacturer states a length of 30 cm and a plastic material, under the Wattstunde brand. Voltage, permitted current and protection rating are not supplied: do not assume them, and refer to your device manual for the limits to respect.
Installation steps
- Mark the position of each panel and measure the distances between connectors.
- Disconnect the device and cover the panels.
- Push the branches of the T into the matching connectors until they click.
- Guide the cables along the frames and secure them without stretching them.
Any work on a household network must be entrusted to a qualified installer.
Strengths
- 30 cm length, suited to spaced panels.
- Fewer extension leads needed in a simple layout.
- Light plastic that does not weigh down the wiring.

Safety
Do not exceed the input limits of the device, combine panels with similar characteristics and never interrupt a link under load. Keep the cable from trailing in water or being pinched by a frame. Replace any cracked or discoloured part.
Care and storage
After a period of exposure, wipe the connectors with a dry cloth and check that they lock. Out of season, coil the cables in wide loops and keep them in a dry container away from heat.
Laying tip
Before fixing the cables for good, do a dry run: place the panels, join the T without tightening the ties and check that the length is right. It is simpler to correct a route at this stage than after everything has been fixed to the roof.
