A pocket-sized reserve of energy
This power bank from Xtorm’s Essential line, in its cool white finish, tops up a phone, earbuds, an e-reader or any small gadget that charges over USB. At 74 Wh it can refill a smartphone several times before you need to find a socket again, the exact number depending on your device’s own battery.
Who it suits and when
Personal use
Students, travellers and commuters keep it at the bottom of a bag so they never run flat at the end of the day. At the weekend it rides along with the kids’ tablet in the car or the smartphone acting as a satnav on a walk.
Work use
Sales reps, couriers or guides can use it to keep a work phone going through a whole round without hunting for a wall outlet.
Design
The battery uses Lithium-Polymer technology. Its case measures 142 x 68 x 28 mm and weighs 425 g, so it fits in one hand and stays lighter than a small laptop. The data sheet states that it is not waterproof, which is a reason to keep it dry.
Using it step by step
- Plug your cable into one of the two ports: the 15W (5V-3A) USB-A port or the 15W input/output port.
- Connect your device to the other end of the cable.
- To recharge the power bank, use the input/output port with a 15W USB-C PD adapter.
- Allow about 8 hours for a recharge with that adapter.
Check your device’s manual for the charging power it accepts before connecting it.
Worth remembering
- 74 Wh of capacity in a pocket format.
- One port can both charge the power bank and feed a device.
- At 425 g it is easy to carry every day.

Precautions for use
Because the unit is not waterproof, keep it away from water, rain and very damp surroundings. Avoid leaving it in direct sun inside a closed car, and do not pierce or crush it. Use cables in good condition and stop using it if it swells, gets very hot or gives off an unusual smell.
Care and storage
Wipe it with a dry cloth. For a long idle period, leave it half charged in a cool, dry place and top it up now and then, following the usual advice for this kind of battery. When travelling, carry it in your cabin bag, since airlines generally restrict loose lithium batteries in the hold; check the carrier’s rules.
