Harvesting engine energy, on 12 V and 24 V alike
The EcoFlow Alternator Charger Plus 600 is an alternator charger compatible with 12 V and 24 V systems, which makes it useful on a van as well as on a heavy truck or a machine fitted with a higher on-board network. It draws current from the alternator, up to 45 A at the input, and converts it into an output voltage between 40 V and 60 V, with a maximum power of 600 W.
Who benefits?
Travellers and mobile residents
In a motorhome or converted van, the energy gathered on the road can feed a fridge, lighting or a laptop. With this charger, long drives also help rebuild the reserve of a compatible power station, to be confirmed with the manufacturer.
Field professionals
A workshop truck, a site vehicle or a service van that must power tools without a generator finds a discreet solution here. The housing is only 38 mm thick, which eases mounting under a seat, along a partition or in a shallow compartment.
The manufacturer’s figures
- Rated current: 45 A
- System voltage: 12 V / 24 V
- Temperature range: –10 °C to 45 °C
- Dimensions: 224 × 153 × 38 mm
- Weight: 1.1 kg
- Input: 11 V to 31 V, 45 A max.
- Output: 40 V to 60 V, 600 W max.
A light build, a defined operating window
At 1.1 kg on the scales, the charger adds almost nothing to the carried weight. The temperature range of –10 °C to 45 °C marks the normal conditions of use: a vehicle parked in the sun or in hard frost can leave that window, and it is better to let the unit come back within range before putting it to work.
Installation and wiring
This job touches the vehicle’s electrical circuit. The charger must be linked to the alternator or the starter battery with cables sized for a 45 A current, with the protection recommended in the manual. Fix it on a flat surface, away from hot manifolds, leaving room for air to circulate. Have the connection made by a qualified installer if you have no experience of automotive wiring, and check with the manufacturer that it is compatible with your vehicle and your power station.
Safety
The 40 V to 60 V output is much higher than the voltage of a 12 V on-board network: handle the output cables with care and never touch them while live. Disconnect all sources before working on them. Do not use the unit if it is damp or damaged.
Care and storage
Inspect the connections from time to time and dust the housing with a dry cloth. If the vehicle will not be used for a long period, disconnect the charger and store it in a dry place within the stated temperature range.
